Canada in 8th place has slipped below the United States, Australia and Belgium as the world's best place to live.
This year's Human Development Index, part of the U.N.'s Human Development Report 2003, ranks Canada as the 8th best country in the world in terms of living conditions. Toronto in need of highly skilled immigrants to overcome labour shortage in 2010

Toronto - Toronto's economy could face a severe challenge in the near future if city officials fail to deal with a predicted labour shortage, says a report delivered to city council Monday.
The independent report for Toronto city council's Economic Development and Parks Committee, showed that by the year 2010 employment in the Toronto region will grow by 400,000 to just over 3 million, an increase of 13 per cent.
However the city will begin losing a major share of its workforce after 2008 as members of the "baby boomer" demographic begin to retire.
As a result the region will face labour shortages across all occupations and skill groups by the end of the decade.
In order to keep pace with this growth, the report concluded that more work needed to be done to attract highly skilled immigrants and major improvements were required for Toronto's skills training system.

Toronto's Goan Overseas Association joins Goans worldwide by designating the Viva Goa Celebrations held on July 26th as a celebration of Goa Day in Toronto.
