Racism expose rocks U.K. Police
LONDON-Eight British police officers have either resigned or been suspended after a television documentary secretly filmed disturbing examples of racism among recruits. A documentary, filmed by an undercover reporter who spent five months working as a trainee and two months as a police officer in northern England, shook forces throughout the country.
But ethnic minority police officers and anti-racism groups saw the documentary as further evidence of a deep-rooted racism that has long plagued police forces in England and Wales.

Eventually, he shifted to Konkani, switched tunes subtly to keep up with the latest trends that western music threw up from time to time. Along with his wife Rita, the creative veteran with several firsts to his credit, ensured continued freshness for their vocal offerings. For more text click here.

Move to curb illegal practice by doctors
In a bid to prohibit practice by medical practitioners with dubious credentials, the state government will shortly issue and ordinance making it mandatory on the part of all doctors to register themselves with the Goa State Medical Council. What the government seems to be considering is to target doctors from outside the State, who issue advertisements in local dailies making tall claims and operate from some city-based hotels.

Solemn Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier announced.
The Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Mgr. Raul Gonsalves has issued a decree announcing the holding of the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier. "In conformity with a long standing practice, followed in this Archdiocese, of holding the Solemn Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier every ten years, we do hereby determine that the same be held in the year 2004, beginning on the 21st November and ending on the 2nd January, 2005".

At first, the 'Body' of St. Francis Xavier was exposed once every year, on the occasion of his feast on December 3. From 1864 the Exposition became less frequent. The First Solemn Exposition was held from February 10-12, 1782. As of now, the Exposition of the sacred Relics of the Saint takes place every ten years.

The Last Solemn Exposition - the 15th in the series - was held from November 21, 1994 to January 7, 1995.

A Committee will be soon appointed by the Archbishop to deal with the matters of the 16th Solemn Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier, to be held next year.

It is hoped that this becomes an opportunity for a spiritual renewal and growth for all, and a means to seek God's graces and protection, through the intercession of the Saint, against all ills that assail us.
