Looking Out For That Nice Goan Family: I am a parent of a Mangalorean/Goan bachelor of 34 years and am interested in my son marrying a Roman Catholic girl of Goan origin. I have family in Goa and visit there quite often. I also have another son who just turned 31 AND happily married with two babies. My daughter of 23 is on a work/travel Student Work Abroad Program (SWAP) in Australia for a year and hopes to return to Canada next November. 2003. I am anxious that my older son marries into a nice Goan family as he is now well settled with his job and a house in Mississauga (Toronto) Ont. Caste is not important. My husband and I are still working here in Canada. I can proudly say that he comes from a fine family background and has his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Waterloo, his MBA from Sir Wilfrid Laurier university and is a member of the P.Eng. Society. He is handsome, sincere, has good morals/mature with sober habits and is currently employed by a well known Insurance Company. For more details you can respond to my e-mail address at lucy.goveas@pwgsc.gc.ca Thank you. I will then forward it accordingly.

  • Specialities of Goan Villages
The famous Goan fish-curry made and served in an earthern pot called "kuinem" tastes better with its aroma of the earth. The famous Goan "ukdo" parboiled rice (xit) cooked and served in a typical Goan earthern pot called the "budkulo" tastes lovely. Yes! This is truly the speciality of every Goan village. It is Goa's true rural heritage. A beautiful floral heritage of Goa is reflected by the fragrance of its small "abolim" like "rattan abolim", "pishi abolim" and another yellowish coloured variety. The Government of Goa should declare "abolim" as the state flower of Goa. The botanical name of "abolim" is crossandra.
