Health Tips

Tips to eating well

1. If you want to keep your mind alert, eat food high in protein. If you have an important afternoon meeting, skip the carbohydrates (pasta and bread) at lunch. They’ll contribute to you feeling sluggish and sleepy.

2. Selenium, a mineral, is needed for your immune system and your heart to function properly. Sources include fish, shellfish, red meat, grains, eggs, garlic, and liver.

3. Want a "youthful" diet? Eat 8 - 10 servings of fruits and vegetables each day to get lots of antioxidants. Eliminate or reduce preserved foods. Eat quality foods and quality calories (avoid fast food and junk food).

4. If you are a victim of the after-dinner munchies, think about why you are eating. You didn’t get enough to eat during the day? Bored? Stressed out? Maybe a drink of water or juice will do the trick.
