"I
wanted to continue my education, but what did God have
in store for me?" Vellozo said. "What becomes
of this aspect of myself, that I am a Catholic man?"
In 1995, as Vellozo finished his business administration
he began to seriously consider that question and God's
plan for his life.
"That's when I started going to Mass daily mid
praying for guidance of the Holy Spirit to figure out
what God wanted me to do, Vellozo said of an intense
six months of prayer. |
| Eventually,
he approached a priest with the question and got the
answer: "You will never know until you enter." |

Born Master Jeweller, Ambaji Shinde dies in New York at
85
 |
NEW
YORK (AP) - Ambaji Shinde, who as principal designer
at the New York jeweler Harry Winston had set jewels
for Indian maharajahs and Hollywood celebrities, died
Tuesday. He was 85. Shinde designed the Winston firm's
signature wreath necklace as well as the $175,000 necklace
that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 1999 Academy Awards.
He reset the blue, 45.52-carat Hope Diamond.Born in
Goa, India, Shinde was trained in the fine arts at the
J.J. School of Art in Bombay. His first designs were
diamond bracelets worn by the maharajah of Porbander.
He later arranged jewelry for other wealthy Indian families. |
| After
independence came to India in 1947, Shinde was approached
by Winston. He left his wife and six children behind
to accept his job. His wife's frail health prevented
her from traveling to the United States. |
Battle
with the Gods

The
battle is Maneesha's and it is one that she wins: but
she wins the battle and loses the war against Destiny.
It is a destiny that takes her from Goa to Bombay to
Dubai and then, all over the world. In the end, she
returns to Goa and accepts defeat at the hands of Destiny.
Maneesha has been raised in poverty in Goa. Her mother
works as a part-time hairdresser and also does the hair
of the lady of the "big house", the much older
wife of the lecherous Matthew Dias. No prizes for guessing
how her mother makes ends meet. More text click
