Indian
nuns in Iraq safe, more deputed
By
Krittivas Mukherjee, Indo-Asian News Service
Kolkata,
Apr 11 (IANS) A group of nuns from Mother Teresa's order
has stayed put in Iraq to help sick children amid the war,
but two more sisters enroute to Baghdad are stranded in
Jordan. "Four of our sisters in Baghdad are safe and
doing fine. We are in touch with them," Missionaries
of Charity official Sunita Kumar told IANS.
The four sisters -- Dency, Rosalyn, Theresina
and M. Joseph -- were among 30 Indians who refused to leave
Baghdad when the U.S. launched a war on Iraq March 20.
Response: Great news of the safety of the
Indian catholic nuns in Iraq and more going there to help.
Can the Goanet keep us informed from Kuwait or Dubai or
India if the Muslim equivalents of nuns and priests are
going to Iraq to help their (and our) brothers and sisters?
