Celebration
of the Saint Francis Xavier Goa Exposition in Toronto.
The 2004 Saint Francis Xavier Exposition Year in Goa will
be marked by special events in Toronto.
Monsignor Terence D'Souza, Pastor of Saint Francis Xavier
Parish, will lead the celebrations with a Solemn Procession
of the Relic of the Saint, followed by High Mass on December
4th 2004 at 10:30 am. at the Church in Mississauga. The
Friends of SFX under President Francis Fernandes will be
organizing the events. Joining in the mass will be the Sons
and Daughters of the Goan Tailors Society, the various Goan
Seniors Groups, and Goan Village organizations.
All parishioners in the Greater Toronto Area are invited
to join in this special event of our Catholic faith. For
those unable to make it for the exposition , this celebration
will be the next best example of events taking place in
Old Goa.John J. D'Souza
Following the mass there will be a fair in the Church Hall
celebrating Goan Culture and cuisine.
Later in the evening the Sons and Daughters of the Tailors
Society will be holding a dance, which judging from previous
years promises to be fun-filled.
Earlier in the Fall, Goan community groups in the Mississauga
area will be holding evening classes, portraying Goa's history,
people, culture, and customs, and Konkani 101 for those
going for the Exposition.
More details will be announced in later issues of www.goanvoice.ca
