Janet
Pereira organizes clothing sale to help Brampton hospital
From: http://www.northpeel.com/br/lifestyle/story/2279133p-2641785c.html
Pregnant moms looking for designer maternity wear without
the expensive price tags can select from hundreds of styles
at an upcoming fundraising sale.
On Saturday, Nov. 20, a designer maternity wear factory
direct warehouse sale is being held at Centennial Recreation
Centre.
More than 1,500 designer clothing items will be discounted
from 25 to 90 per cent off the regular retail price.
What makes this event even more special, said organizer
Janet Pereira, is 50 per cent of the profits from the clothing
sale will be donated to Brampton Memorial Hospital's Pediatric
Ward.
As a mom herself, Pereira knows how important this hospital
ward is for young families in the Brampton and Caledon areas.
"It's my hospital and I have had to take my son to
the pediatric ward before."
Help kids be more comfortable
Through her experience Pereira saw, first hand, how excellent
the nurses and staff were but how simple things like more
toys could help make a sick baby feel a little more comfortable.
"Women who are pregnant have a vested interest because,
heaven forbid, their children one day might have to be in
the pediatric ward."
By combining a designer maternity wear sale with a fundraiser,
Pereira hopes the event will be successful for everyone.
Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell, Ms. Canada Royalty 2004 Veronika
Tkach, and representatives from Brampton Memorial Hospital
will be on hand throughout the afternoon to greet some of
Brampton's expecting moms.
Anyone wishing to volunteer and help with the maternity
wear sale can contact Pereira at 647-223-8109.
The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Centennial Recreation
Centre, 80 Mary St., in downtown Brampton.
