The fund raiser for Alison DeSilva, held on April 24, was supported by a sold-out attendance of more than 700 persons, which included Alison herself and her parents.
Spearheading this event were Delfine & Norman Da Costa, Clara & Danny Fernandes, and Sara & Raymond Ferrao

New Seniors Group
The new seniors group formed for the East Greater Toronto Area took off with a flying start. About 130 seniors showed up, paid the enrolment fee, and elected the executive committee with Claude Gomes as the first president. A full program of events is planned for the summer. Current membership 962, down 30 from 2002
The financial situation was much healthier with a surplus of $66,000 of which more than 50% came from the popular Viva Goa Festival where the turnout exceeded 4000.
The bank mortgage for the 10-acre property in Vaughan, the City above Toronto, will be virtually wiped out in 2005, leaving $360K owed in debentures and interest payment to members.
Founder members, Roque Barreto and Aloysius Vaz were re-elected for a second two-year term on the Board of Trustees.
The 2003 Annual Report is expected to be on display on the G.O.A. web site.

The Goan Charitable Organization
Roque Barreto is the President, with Aloysius Vaz as the Secretary/Treasurer. Elma De Souza and Paul Faleiro were elected to serve as members for 2004/2005.
The GCO raised more funds than ever before most of the amount from the now annual walk-a-thon. At least 40 families received financial support, or food vouchers, or help for funeral expenses.
The Goan Charitable Organization is registered with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency as a charity with registration # 11923-5315-RR001. This number can be used for those making United Way Donations, which will then be sent to the GCO.
The GCO walk-a-thon is being held on June 5 this year. See the events section for details.

Goan Soccer in Toronto
Evarist Fernandes will be doing the honours promoting soccer through the Goan Soccer League. (See Events section for link)
Teams from Dubai and the U.K. are expected to take part in the Viva Goa Indoor Soccer Tournament.
