Tuesday July 05th, 2005
Event: A SPECIAL HOLY MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED CHRIST THE KING ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Organised by Supporters of Bishop Alex Dias for TSUNAMI VICTIMS OF ANDAMAN
& NICOBAR ISLANDS
Time 6.30 P.M
Venue
3495 CONFEDERATION PARKWAY, MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, CANADA. (CORNER OF CONFEDERATION AND CENTRAL PKWY.)

MAIN CELEBRANT: HIS EXCELLENCY, THE MOST REV. ALEX DIAS SFX. BISHOP OF PORT BLAIR, ANDAMAN, INDIA. FOLLOWING MASS, AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET AND
GREET HIM. ALL OTHER PRIESTS ARE INVITED TO CONCELEBRATE AT THIS SOLEMN
EVENT FOR THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS OF ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS, INDIA.
His Excellency, The Most Rev. Alex Dias sfx, hails from Calangute, Goa. He is the First Bishop of Port Blair Diocese, consecrated on January 20, 1985. He is also the First Bishop of the Society of Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier, Pilar, Goa, India.
According to Bishop Dias, "they were devastated by the powerful Earthquake and Tsunamis of December 26th, 2004. They have left a trail of destruction everywhere. As per unofficial figures, more than 25,000 people have perished in his diocese alone, almost all in the Nicobar Group of Islands. The damage done to the property is colossal. A lot of his Churches, Rectories, Convents, Schools etc. are very badly cracked. Most of those in the Nicobar group of Islands have either been completely wiped out, or are very severely damaged. And to make matters worse, the land where they are/were is inundated by the water of the sea. And so, they have to really begin from scratch by looking for new land, buying it and then constructing again. 5000 hectares of cultivable land got inundated by the water, thereby destroying the paddy and other cultivations. In the future, too, nothing can be
cultivated in this area. It is, indeed, a catastrophe beyond all imagination. He really feels that much of the progress that had been there in the last 20 years, since the creation of the diocese, has been washed away." Bishop Dias bows to God's Holy Will and says, "THY WILL BE DONE."
The offertory collection during the Holy Mass will go towards the Earthquake and Tsunami Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Fund of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Please donate generously.
All are invited to attend this Special Holy Mass and please inform others.
