Tiatr in TO from Goa ~"Goemcho Avaz".
By:
Pam Vasandani
Francis
D’Costa, President of D’Costa Financial Group
has out done himself again. Each year, he manages to bring
a truly interesting International Cast and produces Konkani
Tiatr par excellence!! In keeping with his theme
of "Keeping Goan Heritage Alive", this year for
the very first time, Seven Stars of international repute will
be flown in from Goa, Bombay and Kuwait to star in this highly
acclaimed and successful show "Goemcho Avaz".
Performances will staged at the Pope John Paul II Polish Cultural
Centre – 4300, Cawthra Road, Mississauga, on the Sunday
17th July and Sunday 24th July at 2.00 p.m.
Antoinette Mendez, of ‘Amchem
Noxib’ fame, heads the star line up, with Queen
of Comedy "Succorine", who will be singing
& acting as never before for Goan audiences in Toronto,
Canada. Together with songbird Rosy Alvares,
these three famous names will be sure to bring nostalgic
memories to all Goans. Added to these are popular comedians
John D’Silva, Agustinho
and actor Jose Rod. (son-in-law of the
famous Antoinette). Pravin (who features
on most Konkani CDs) brings soulful lyrics and music to
this very classy mix. Audiences are bound to enjoy three
hours of a fun-filled afternoon full of high-caliber music
and laughter. Konkani is on its way to gaining even more
popularity (which has always been our aim!). This troupe
is on an International tour, playing to audiences in UK,
France, Portugal and Canada.
Francis D’Costa requests
all Goans to support and promote such events in an effort
to revive our mother-tongue Konkani. Let all Konkani speaking
people pull together and keep our heritage alive and kicking!!
We hear that shows in the UK are a complete success with
tickets all sold out !! Come on Canadians from Goa, let’s
make sure we show our support for our heritage and come
out with the family for fabulous events of this nature.
As usual, there will be plenty of Goan food for sale and
to taste!! As usual, Francis D’Costa goes all out
in his efforts to ensure success in promoting our culture.
Anyone who would truly love to attend and cannot afford
even the low priced tickets ($25/) are invited to call Francis
personally (416-880-0928)!!
