The
public School board is providing parents with tips to help
children continue developing reading, writing and math skills
during summer vacation.
The Peel District School Board's Web site www.peelschools.org,
is providing access to tip sheets and suggested parent/child
activities to continue learning experiences for young and
older students outside the school environment.
Studies show that children who remain active learners outside
the classroom during summer months are better prepared to
return to school in the fall.
The Parents Boost Learning section of the Web site features
learning activities for pre-school children, in addition
to elementary, middle and secondary school students.
The
board's Website includes more than 45 tip sheets as well
as advice for choosing quality summer programs and suggestions
for various activities to help kids learn.
"Providing
a learning experience doesn't need to be an expensive endeavour,"
said Brian Woodland, Peel board's communications director.
"As a parent , you can turn any ordinary activity into
fun and memorable way to learn."
