Here in Pakistan the Goinkars Own Academy under the leadership
of Deborah Santamaria will be celebrating World Goa Day
on 20th - 21st August.
This
would be our way of showing solidarity to Goans around
the world. Last year we had 150+ members and guests in
attendance. And this year we have 200+. The idea of celebrate
our heritage, culture, traditions, music and cuisine and
most of all our language KONKANI is a great one. It should
not be forgotten that World Goa Day came into being to
honor our Konkani language we can do it by learning and
speaking it in public. Credit goes to Rene Barreto who
in 2000 relentlessly work hard with a few co-coordinators
for revival of our Mother Tongue Konkani and as you can
see this forum which began with just a few has increased
tremendously because we did not work as an individual
we worked as a team and therefore together we have made
a difference..
We
as Goans are proud of the many important values we possess,
and World Goa Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate
and share these rare values with the various communities
around the world.
