Nairobi: Ian Fernandes appointed managing director of Nation Broadcasting Division

19 Jan: The Nation (Nairobi). Mr Ian Fernandes has been appointed managing director of Nation Broadcasting Division, taking overall charge of Nation TV and Nation FM. Mr Fernandes, 37, has been the managing director of KTN and worked with Standard group in various senior positions for 11 years. FERNANDES TO HEAD NATION BROADCASTING

The Board of Directors of the Nation Media Group yesterday announced the appointment of Mr. Ian Fernandes as the Managing Director of the Nation Broadcasting Division. The division is responsible for the operations of the Group’s television and radio station’s - Nation TV and Nation FM respectively.

Announcing the appointment the Group’s Chief Executive Mr Wilfred Kiboro said the changes would strengthen thr groups regional leadership and diversification.”.

Upon accepting the new position Mr Fernandes, formerly the Managing Director of KTN, said he was absolutely delighted with this appointment at East Africa’s largest media house. “Having served the Standard Group for the last eleven years, I needed a new challenge and this post promises just that. The Nation Broadcasting Division is set to emulate the success of the Nation Newspaper and I look forward to being part of that progression ”

Prior to his appointment as Managing Director of Nation Broadcasting, Mr Fernandes, 37, had served as IT Manager for the Standard, Standard Group Technical and Production Director and Managing Director KTN - all within the Standard Group.

Following the launch of Nation Broadcasting in December 1999, Nation TV and Nation FM now broadcast nationally in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nyeri , Nakuru and Meru. The Group also has regional interests in Monitor FM in Uganda and Radio Uhuru in Tanzania.


HEART OF GOA BEATS IN ENGLAND
MELISSA D’SOUZA was invited and flown to England to play for the New Year’s Eve 2004 Dance. The function was organized by Owen Pires, and held at Winston Churchill Hall in Pinn Way, Ruislip, Middlesex. The night was filled with a special elegance as each guest was treated to a glass of champagne upon their arrival and served a delightful variety of hors d’oeuvres. A sit down dinner initiated the evening at 8:00 p.m. Non-stop dancing took over by 9:00 p.m. to the live music and entertaining styles of Melissa D’Souza and Owen Pires. For full text click here
