On December 3rd 2005 @ 10.am the celebration of the St.
Francis Xavier Feast will take at the St. Francis Xavier
Church in Mississauga. (5650
Mavis Road (Mavis & Matheson) Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
)This will be the fifth year that the Friends of St. Francis
Xavier have hosted this celebration. The
events will start with a solemn Procession at 10.00 a.m. with
the sacred relic of St. Francis Xavier and an Honour Guard
provided by the Knights of Columbus. A Goan Konkani Choir will
grace the celebration followed by High Mass The celebrant is
Monsignor Terence D’Souza, founding Pastor of the church. New
Members will be enrolled and receive a red sash reminiscent of
the red cape (ocmus) worn in Goa where the Saint is
venerated.
This years event will be the culmination of the hard work of
the President, Francis D'Souza ,and his wife Vicki who is
skilfully coordinating activities with committee and numerous
volunteers. Romeo & Belinda Rodrigues will lead the choir
supported by accomplished musicians - Cooty(violin) Auggie
Pereira ( sax) Luis Pereira (sax) &
Malcolm Oliver,
the
famous lead guitarist for the New Illusions.The
sound of New Orleans style music is bound to resonate in the
Church. and in the events that will follow.Thereafter
the congregation is invited to a Family Fair in the Church
Hall. Admission is free!There will be more than twenty tables
laden with Goan food, Xmas sweets, gifts, raffles and other
items to start the holiday season.
At the Fair emceed by Walter Hayde, members of the choir, Ruth
Kumar, Winnie Crasto, Romeo & Belina will transform into
entertainers backed by musicians Oliver, Cooty, Auggie,
Malcolm, & Luis.

This year's celebration will be special as the feast falls on
the Saturday 3rd December itself. It also marks the
commencement of celebrations for the fifth centenary of the
Jesuit order of founded by St. Ignatius Loyola with St.
Francis Xavier as it's leading light. -End
G.O.A Celebration of The
Feast of St. Francis Xavier
The
Feast of St. Francis Xavier is celebrated on December 3 in Goa.
Numerous devotees flock to the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old
Goa, to kiss the relics of St. Francis Xavier, who is known
for his healing powers. Join us in celebrating our community
feast - St. Francis Xavier on Sunday, December 4, 2005 with
mass at noon celebrated by Fr. Daryl Miranda.

mass, we will socialize with delicious Goan food (caterer
Konkan Delite) and great entertainment for the whole family
including Goan Bazaar, fabulous cultural show and DJ music (DJ
Fatz) for you and your family's dancing and listening

Note:
Tables ($15 member, $18 Guest) can be reserved for groups of
10 only - otherwise seating is on a first come first serve
basis. Please book early as tickets will not be sold at the
door.
