Goan Seniors Revive "The Lancers"
The Toronto East Goan Seniors (TEGSA) gave an elegant performance of "The Lancers" at their 2005 Christmas Event, which has sparked new interest in this dance and revived memories of long ago. Videographer Uvy Lopes DVD of the performance is in high demand. (See letters below)
Preparations and practice for the performance began few months earlier when Elsie Fernandes, Anthony(Antu) & Elsa Saldanha & Aloysius (Alu) & Eva Carvalho recollected the moves of times past and arranged the choreography and music. Then came the setting up of the dance teams and rehearsals co-ordinated by Elsie, Antu & Alu. The result of all this hard work was an entertaining performance which many will long remember. Where do they go from here ? The group is on the lookout for the original sound music and repertoire of parts 4 & 5 of this group dance.

Contact Uvy Lopes unmlopes@sympatico.ca - if by luck you have this information.
The group's ambition is to hold competions for seniors, and group performances at different events.

Letter of Appreciation
Thank you for the CD.
Thank you so much for giving me a copy of the Lancers DVD. Your kindness and appreciation is very much appreciated. What a wonderful job you have done with the Lancers DVD!!!.
I must say the cover of the Lancers DVD was very attractive and colourful, one would not hesitate to watch it as soon as they got their hands on it. The presentation of the DVD was done very professionally, the TEGSA Logo at the beginning, the Committee Members, who the Managing Director and Organizer was, the Choreographers and of course the names of all the
DANCERS.

The DVD was bright and very clear to see, not to mention the sound of the music was so good that I felt like dancing. The footwork of the dancers and hip swaying was so appropriate that I had a smile on my face. This is a very memorial DVD for someone to have, especially for those involved. A true GOAN TRADITION not just for me but also for all future generations to come. Natty.

Lancers, Lancers, we want more Lancers Uvy........
Till today, many of my friends and members ask me - ? when next? ?- the Lancers was well done and co-ordinated. They would like to see more of Lancer participation in village shows etc., etc.. We would have loved to see the complete Lancers...i.e moves 4th & 5th. Great job Elsie. Let's have & see more of it. Please keep us informed of your next show.
Peter.
Well organized and a great promotion by Elsie.

TEGSA's first two years BEST occasion. Keep up the excellent work Uvy, and thanks for this wonderful DVD. I would like to participate.. Is there any chance of completing the 4th and 5th moves?
Let me know when & Where? Lancing forever.
Helen.

The truth about exams
LONDON, ON, April 11 /CNW/ - As classes at universities end and exams begin the following item may be of interest...

SKIP THE JAVA FOR PEAK EXAM PERFORMANCE
Students who want a boost of energy to get them through exams should skip the coffee and run around the block instead says Peter Lemon, kinesiology professor at The University of Western Ontario. "About 10 to 15 minutes of vigorous exercise will stimulate blood flow to the brain, providing the same effect as a cup of coffee," he says. In addition to coffee, Lemon advises against fuelling up on highly-caffeinated energy drinks. He says these products contain no carbohydrates and therefore provide no real energy, just a feeling of energy from the caffeine.
