Goa-America Heart Foundation Inc. NEWSLETTER
November 2006
Dear fellow members, donors and well-wishers of the
Goa-America Heart Foundation Inc.
It has been a while since your Board of Trustees has
communicated with you regarding developments related
to our project for establishing a much needed
state-of-the-art Cardiac Center in Goa. This has
primarily been due to evolving circumstances in Goa
that were often beyond our ability to control, and our
need to make adjustments to adapt to the vagaries and
the uncertainties of events as they presented
themselves to us. We are extremely fortunate to
have a cadre of exceptionally talented and
dedicated people in Goa, who have been so effective in
steering us through sometimes turbulent waters.
In recent months some tangible progress has been made.
And it is with some sense of accomplishment that we
can report to you the positive developments in our
project.
1.. The Goa-America Heart Foundation Trust has been
registered with the Central Government of India and
with the State of Goa, and has secured 80-G status,
that essentially allows tax-deductible donations to
the trust by Indian citizens. Furthermore, GAHF Inc.
has been granted 501©3 status, allowing
tax-deductible contributions by US tax payers. These
are both major developments that will greatly
facilitate our ability to raise funds for your
Project.
2. After a very thorough process of evaluation, it has
been determined that our Cardiac Center will be most
effective as a stand alone facility, rather than an
adjunct to an existing medical establishment. Having
clarified our focus and objectives, the path towards
establishment of the center is now quite
determined and clear. Our Trustees in Goa are in the
midst of crucial discussions for the acquisition,
under advantageous terms, of very valuable land in a
central and strategic location which we hope
will come to fruition in a short time. As soon as that
exercise is completed, we shall be able to
provide you with details.
We have received so many enquiries from many of you
these past months and offers of help, and we are
humbled and grateful. We have also been
encouraged by your support, and by your patience as we
have battled all manner of process, procedure,
obstacles and red-tape to get to this point. It
is now time for us to direct our concerted energies
and go full speed ahead in parallel efforts to
raise funds and to initiate architectural plans
and construction work for the Center.
On the home front, we at GAHF, Inc. have been very
fortunate to welcome aboard Dr. Victor DeSa, a
recently retired surgeon with much valuable experience
in the medical and the financial world of medicine in
New York, as a Trustee on the Board.
In the next few weeks, we will keep you apprised of
our plan of action in the coming months, and of
further developments. In the meantime, thank
you, as always, for your continued support. If you
would like to take advantage of tax deductions for the
current year, we would welcome a tax deductible
contribution before December 31, 2006. Please make
your check
out to GAHF Inc. and mail it to the address above.
We all on the Board wish you and your families a
joyful Thanksgiving, and a Christmas season filled
with peace. May you see peace and prosperity in
the New Year. |
