PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
THE SEASON OF LOVE |
|
 |
Dear
Member:
In a few short weeks we will be right in the midst of the
glitz and glitter of the Christmas Season. The streets will be
jammed with people doing their last minute shopping before the
sun dawns on the 25th. Happy songs fill the air; children,
laughing and wide eyed, investigate every store’s toy
department. There seems to be an atmosphere different from
other times in the year. People are friendlier; they even
appear to have a livelier step. The holiday season – a time of
goodwill, peace and renewal of faith and a time when the
warmth of friendship and the happiness of family re-unions are
most important, is here.
This is also the time of the year when we reflect on our
contribution and service to the community, and give thanks for
the tremendous support, co-operation and encouragement the
Executive spontaneously received from the membership.
During the Yuletide season, I urge every member to go to even
greater efforts in practicing the great principles of
generosity, faith and humility. We can make the season a
little happier and more meaningful for the sick and lonely,
people who would otherwise be forgotten at a time of the year
when no one should feel alone or unwanted.
On behalf of the members of the Executive and from our home,
Jean and I would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas and
holiday season, and I pray that Love, Joy and Peace will be
yours all this year and forever.
Al Andrade
PRESIDENT
TEGSA MEMBERS REACH OUT TO THE LESS
FORTUNATE
In his appeal to the members, President Al Andrade said, “Let
us examine the deeper significance of the spiritual truth
behind this unique season and open our hearts by giving
generously to the needy and less fortunate”.
The response to the appeal was overwhelming. Members brought a
variety of canned goods and non-perishable food packages to
the Food Drive at the Club’s annual Yuletide Serenade.
More then 600 lbs. was collected which will be donated to the
Food Bank, who unfortunately have not met their target this
year.
The Executive were very appreciative and grateful for the
members’ generosity and were happy that TEGSA was able to
help. One senior member was heard saying, “Members always put
their best foot forward in time of need.” |
