This special event is in honour of an amazing young girl, Alison. She was inspirational to many of the people around her and touched many hearts because of her simple need to make a difference in the lives of others. Like all of us, Ally had her purpose in this world and discovered exactly what it was at an amazing young age as she endured some very challenging times during her last few years.

We as a committee are dedicated to carrying out her purpose and continuing to keep her dream alive in more ways than one. Our gala’s initiative is to raise money for the GIFT program (Group for the Improvement of Intestinal Function and Treatment) at SickKids coordinated by Dr. Paul Wales, a neonatal and paediatric surgeon. The only program of its kind in Canada, GIFT’s mandate is to improve the clinical care of patients with intestinal failure and create new knowledge through clinical and basic science research to help many children around the world. It was Alison’s hope to raise money for this program, a program from which she herself benefited. We hope that you will choose to be a part of this extravagant event which will be draped in full class exactly as Ally had described it.

We would be grateful in any way that you choose to participate, whether it may be by honouring us with your presence, support in monetary donations, or contributing in gifts for our silent auction. You may also consider advertising in our event booklet and may contact me for further details.

Our Lady of Fatima Shrine - Fundraiser

Message from Dorothy Soares

Dear Friends,

We had recently been to our Lady Of Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, New York for a fundraiser. The reason for the fundraiser is because this special place is falling apart with the Church and the Chapels roof leaking and they need to raise money to begin construction and repair of the Shrine. The fundraiser in Lewiston was organized exceptionally well and we have returned with the idea that we could also have a fundraiser here to raise additional money for this worthy cause. I'm sure a lot of you and your friends are devotees of Our Blessed Mother and She has always looked after our Spiritual and Temporal needs. Its the least we can do to repay her kindness for the many favours granted.

We have decided to hold a similar fundraiser (Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Renovation Gala) on Sunday 25th May 2008 from 12 Noon to 5 PM. It will be held at The Oasis Convention Centre in Mississauga. Our program would start at 12 Noon with a Mass by Father Julio Ciavaglia - Shrine Director of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine followed by Lunch, some dancing and mingling and fund raising events. Please forward this email to all your friends.

The price of the the tickets, including lunch, is $30 per adult and $20 for children below 12 and above 3 years. There will be a cash bar . Remember, all monies raised after costs will be sent to Our Lady Of Fatima Shrine. If you or anyone that you know of would like to assist us in selling tickets, placing advertisements in our brochure, contributing gifts towards the fundraiser, giving cash donations or in any other way, please let us know. Cheques can be made out to "Our Lady of Fatima Shrine".
