It should have been called the Mothers' Day Spectacular. Every lady that walked in was greeted with a chocolate Rose to celebrate all Mothers. The food, catered by Patsy's Catering consisted of shrimp with okra, beef chilli fry, tuna cutlets, mango curry, plain rice and fruit custard for dessert. Could it get more Goan than that? Absolutely delicious.

Joachim Menezes, the Emcee got the night started with Doug Fernandes, a member of the Canorient Choral Group, and a staunch TEGSA member, singing Sway, an oldie but goodie. Doug's very professional performance and smooth voice did not stop all the amateurs from coming up and rocking, crooning, and singing, in ones, twos and 10s. People were on their feet, clapping their hands and stomping their feet – in fact, some of them were dancing in the corner because they didn't want to minimize the performances. DJ Symphony catered to all the singers' tastes.

Halfway thru' the evening, Natty Viegas taught line dancing and the floor was packed with line dancers, some veterans and some novices. The on-lookers were laughing and pointing making fun of all their friends – but it was all done and taken in sporting style. During the second half of the karaoke session Francis Pinto gave his own rendition of Woolly Bully, grinding and shaking his booty to howls of laughter. We were also given a preview of the singer from Yester Melodies and TEGSA committee member - Austin Viegas will be performing on Fish Curry Nite, whetting our appetites for more.

And then there was Bingo. The winner got $100 - she was very happy, and in true Goan style there were moans and groans when so many hopes were dashed. Most people did not want the evening to end and the Emcee had to practically chase people out telling them that the night was over. To top it all, in good TEGSA tradition, everyone helped in the clean-up. All in all, a fantastic evening was had by all and we can't wait for the next event.
