ND ABOVE ALL THIS “ HUSTLE & BUSTLE” – YOU’LL HEAR……
…………Some lively chatter from Members & Guests…who came
from far & near to share in this celebration, and
filed into this “JAW-DROPPING” Venue, The
“Metropolitan Banquet Hall” (that held a capacity of
over 400+ members and guests), while spreading their
lively cheer, above the sweet nostalgic sounds of “Ole
time favourite - Christmas tunes, from none other than
…D.J. Ritchie.
There was an instant inviting feeling when one entered
the hall, as, displayed in the lobby of the hall were
2 live screen monitors and inside, on all four corners
of the room to capture the evening’s events, and was
mirrored from every angle of the room!
TEGSA Committee members, greeted each individual guest
with a warm welcome, and ushered them to their
designated tables, which were stunningly decorated
with a colourful Christmas arrangement, that filled
the room with a warm ambience & a classy look!,
Delicious hors-d’oeuvres were served around – which
really hit the spot!
An event such as this, takes a lot of hard work and
dedication. Hence, a poignant aspect of the evening’s
celebration was seen in the teamwork & camaraderie of
spirit which was widely exuded all around the room!
Every table had two bottles of wine. The Master
of Ceremonies, Joaquim Menezes, did an outstanding job
of announcing the evening’s agenda on a timely basis,
with his wit and enthusiasm thrown in!

The
evening’s celebrations started off with a ‘BANG” as
President, Mr. Charles Fernandes delivered his welcome
speech and introduced his dynamic Executive Committee
and thanked them for their time and effort put into
the year’s events, which were carried out to
perfection, and making their vision a reality in the
past 12 months!
Following this, Charles’ brother Bosco recited Grace,
before dinner was served, to a sit down meal, which
was served to perfection. The character & uniqueness
of the evening enhances the important element in
dining for such an exquisite venue, with its
impeccable service by the waiters at hand, i.e. -
“service with a smile”! Delectable desserts were
served and washed down by a hot brew of coffee & tea!
The Hi-Lite of the evening’s celebration was a
performance put on by the twosome, Ruth & Vasanth
Kumar, who admirably performed a Banghra dance, as
they captured the audience’s attention!
Senior members took full advantage of Richie’s hot
music, as they “strutted their stuff” from “A SHAKIN &
A ROCKIN” to a “TWISTIN & A ROLLIN” not forgetting the
“JIG” & “BOOGIE-WOOGIE”!! which stimulated their
circulation! – What a work-out! that even the M.C. had
to remind this crowd …“Remember you are Seniors”……!! –
this brought them back to reality!!
No
sooner had he said that, “The Younger Seniors” took to
the floor headed by the energetic & bubbly Natty
Viegas & Juliet Matkar accompanied with her “Merry
Makers” Line Dancing group got on the floor to “Strut
their Stuff” and Pompee invited all the Ladies up to
join them – together with a few brave men, who line
danced to the most popular line dancing number
“Achy-Breaky Heart” and to one of my favourite
Christmas songs, i.e.“SILVER BELLS”!! As they swayed
to the music with such grace and elegance, that added
a unique flair to the whole group! – From a
spectator’s point of view it looked amazing!! Congrats
Natty and Juliet!! - A job well done!
After that amazing work-out – everyone had a “SNACK
ATTACK” ……so the committee made sure a “midnight
snack” was well laid out with a variety of delicious
appetizers and hot coffee and tea! More dancing
continued to a variety of songs for the “young at
heart” mingled with “moody blues” for the older
generation!
Great prizes were given out towards the end of the
evening to the lucky ticket winners! – The stunning
centre pieces also got “ snapped” by the lucky winner,
much to the envy of the losers!- Better luck next
time!!
It is plain to see that the success of this evening’s
celebration, has resulted from a “collective” will to
represent TEGSA, working as a team in the Spirit of
Christmas,
“A Feast of all Feasts”, which is Celebrated the
“World Over” that has brought renewed friendship to
those who were present and has left a lasting memory
that will forever be “etched” in our hearts!
Well, as all good things must come to an end, - and
realization starts setting in that “ Now is the time”
– “When we must say Goodbye”…..we were “awakened to
realize that we have yet to Celebrate ….in the days to
come……’THE GREATEST FEAST OF ALL…CHRISTMAS….CELEBRATED
THE WORLD OVER! & as Ritchie played the last number
“White Christmas”…….left us with a nostalgic feeling
of yesteryear!....as we trudged home…..it sure was
WHITE as it trickled down like a snowy Christmas
Card…..!! – SO COME LET US ADORE HIM ……CHRIST…OUR
LORD!!
From the Executive Committee
– we say:
