Bishop Alex Dias to officiate
at 2009
Calangute Social
The Calangute Association of
Canada will celebrate the annual
feast of their Patron – St Alex –
followed by the Social on July
19th. At the Holy Mass, the main
celebrant and chief guest will be
Most Reverend Alex Dias, SFX,
Bishop of Port Blair (Son of
Calangute who is specially
traveling all the way from India).
Rev. Alex Dias is the First Bishop
of Port Blair, Andamns, India and
belongs to Pilar Society, Goa.
This year, Bishop Dias is
celebrating the Silver Jubilee (25
Years) of his Episcopal
Consecration.
We are inviting all the Members of
the GOA Toronto, West-End Seniors
Association, Toronto East Goan
Seniors Association, Can-Orient
Seniors Association & St. Francis
Xavier Seniors Club to attend the
Social and to meet and greet the
Goan Bishop Alex Dias.
Bishop Alex Dias visited Toronto
in July 2005, soon after the
Tsunami in Andamans Islands. Goans
were amazed and impressed at his
simplicity, gentleness and
humility, despite his knowledge
and education (he speaks 7
languages, German, Italian,
Portuguese,Konkanni, Hindi etc).
The collection of the Mass,
donations and the profit's of this
year's social will go to Bishop
Alex Dias, Diocese of Andaman's &
Nicobar Islands.The people in the
Andaman Islands are also children
of God and therefore our brothers
and sisters.
We need some help from all the
Associations to help raise some
funds and also give some publicity
.See the attached flyer.
Click for Flyer.
Bishop Dias is truly a man of God
and merits our help.
Best
wishes.
