+ Mrs. Mary Borges

We are sad to announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Borges (wife of the late Joseph Borges, ex Barclays Bank Kampala) this morning, November 4, 2009 in Davis, California. Mary was born on August 26, 1918 and died peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 91, after an enjoyable evening of bridge. She is survived by her two sons Edwin and Sal (Salvador), daughter-in-law Sally, and grandchildren Brian, Colin and Julia.

Mary lived in Uganda until 1965 and then moved to London, England until 1977 and then to Bombay, India, after her husband passed away. In 1993 she moved to Davis, California. She also played tennis but will be remembered by her many friends as a great badminton player, who won many trophies at the Club and National levels in Uganda. She was also an extremely good seamstress and many Uganda brides have fond and happy memories of her talents, which made them all look so good on their big day! She will indeed be missed by several friends and relatives who knew her as a kind, warm, loving and generous person.
