Essay Competition on Goan Migration

13, 2009: The Department of NRI Affairs would be holding an Essay Competition for students having maximum age limit of 25 yrs, who are doing their under graduate or post graduate studies in colleges in Goa or at the Goa University.

The essay competition shall be on one of the following topics:

  1. Socio-Economic impact of Goan Emigration,

  2. Goan Migration – Does it benefit Goa?

The Essay could be either in Konkani, Marathi or English. It should be neatly hand written or typed with the maximum number of words not exceeding 1500. The Head of the Institution of the participant student should certify that the essay submitted is his / her original contribution. The three best entries in each language will be given cash prizes of Rs. 3000/-, Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 1000/- respectively. Students desirous of participating in this Essay Competition should submit their entries to the Office of the Commissioner for NRI Affairs , Room 103, Ministerial Complex, Secretariat Porvorim, Goa latest by November 30, 2009.

8th Pravasi Divas Jan 7-9 New Delhi

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs is organizing the 8th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Convention (PBD 2010) Jan 7-9 2010 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The annual event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Members of the Indian community in Canada are requested to participate in large numbers in the forthcoming PBD convention. PBD Conventions provide the largest platform to the Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non Resident Indians (NRIs) for exchange of views and networking on matters of common interest.
