the Canadian Institute of Actuaries tells Parliament
OTTAWA, May 3 /CNW/ - In the wake of an election that has changed the shape
of the country's political landscape, Canada's
actuaries are urging the new government to make
Canadians' long-term interest their priority. We hope
the sea change in Parliament's appearance will extend
to its feel, especially with so many critical issues
facing the country and its population.
Huge Dam Endangers Thousands in Ethiopia and Kenya,

Construction of Africa’s

Commentary
The statements, opinions, or views in the articles may not
necessarily reflect that of the Goan Voice Canada.
Canadians turned their backs on more than a century
of centrist elite accommodation on Monday and
selected a Parliament where the populist right and
the populist left will be going head to head for the
first time.
Not long after the White House released the
President’s birth certificate this morning, Donald
Trump stepped off a helicopter, ambled up to a bank
of microphones, and declared, “Today, I’m very proud
of myself.”
Poor Goan parents have finally realized the bitter
truth: They are being emotionally and economically
blackmailed by the government who is playing the
maim bhas card and denying them grants, thereby
preventing their children from being educated in
English during their formative years.

Aldona-born Bernardo de Sousa moved to Switzerland in
1965, but kept in touch via an "annual pilgrimage".
His roots have been important to him and his
Swiss-born children. But this scientist's fascination
with DNA and old records led him to write a book, just
out, titled THE LAST PRABHU. It's subtitle reads: "A
hunt for roots -- DNA, ancient documents and migration
in Goa." Sousa explains what egged him on and what he
found...

nation. Income, consumption and demographics have
played the most critical role in Goa’s ascendance.
Parents hold
candlelight march
Hundreds of parents from Margao and its outskirts
gathered at the Lohia Maidan and held a candlelight
march, moving towards the Chief Minsters residence,
short by few meters, in support of their demand for
recognizing of English as the medium of instruction
in primary schools.
This
year, Goa has a double celebration coming up. First,
it is the Golden Jubilee year of its liberation from
Portuguese occupation. And second, the state has
emerged No. 1 among high-income states in the
competitiveness survey. Out of the 12
sub-parameters, Goa topped its group on seven,
although it was No. 1 in only one of the four main
parameters.
Today’s newspapers carried out this strong message
from the so called Freedom Fighters who earn huge
pension & benefits for themselves, their wives and
jobs and benefits to their children - all this in
the name of the Portuguese.

WASHINGTON: US
Friday appreciated India’s broad-based developmental
work in Afghanistan, but said Chinese interest in the
war-torn country is likely to deepen, particularly if
the security situation continues to improve.
In a general environment of clean-up anti-corruption
campaigns by activists, arrests of tainted politicians
and businessmen, and attempts (however meek) by the
government to nail Indians who have money stashed in
Swiss Banks - the Income Tax department recently
announced its intention of doing its bit.
