Lewis J. Lawrence (March 23, 1924 June 3, 2011)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing away of Lewis on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Trillium Health Centre surrounded by his immediate family.  Beloved husband of Sophie for 62 wonderful years.  Loving father of Francis and his wife Aloma, Christopher and his wife Luceta, Robert and his wife Marise, and Michael and his wife Serena. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Wendy, Dr David, Samantha (Brinsley Barreto), Sean (Pearl Chesson),  Chantelle (Jude Albuquerque), Marc and Keisha. Dearest great-grandfather of Nyah and Kyra.

Lewis a retired engineer from Burmah-Shell and a businessman moved to Canada in 1980. He volunteered with the Lions Club for over 50 years in Canada and previously India. He was dedicated to the community and contributed greatly to the success of the Square One Farmers Market. The Older Adult Centre and Police Community Liaison Committee have also significantly benefited from his enthusiasm and commitment.

 

Visitation at Turner & Porter "Peel Chapel" (905 279-7663) on Sunday June 12 and Monday June 13 at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St Christopher’s R.C. Church in Clarkson, Mississauga on Tuesday June 14 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Spring Creek Cemetery in Clarkson, Mississauga. If desired memorial donations may be made to Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga.

REVEREND ERNEST CLIFFORD KAMATH

Reverend Ernest Clifford Kamath, retired Roman Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg died on June 2, 2011 at the age of 73. Father Kamath was born on June 6, 1937 in Kodiyalbail, Mangalore, India where he received his early education. He was ordained to the priesthood, in Rome, on December 22, 1962. Incardinated into the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica, Fr. Ernest served in various ministries including as High School Principal. Later he relocated to the Diocese of Kamloops before coming to the Archdiocese of Winnipeg in 1987. On November 30, 1989, Father Kamath was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Winnipeg. In the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, Fr. Ernest served as Pastor of St. Hyacinth's and St. John's Parishes in Portage la Prairie (1987 to 1994); Parochial Vicar at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, Winnipeg (1994 to 1995); Pastor of St. Erik's Parish in Eriksdale, Holy Cross, Ashern and St. Olaf, Lundar (1999 to 2000) and Pastor of St. Laurent Parish in St. Laurent while continuing to serve Eriksdale, Ashern and Lundar (2000 to 2002). In 2002 Fr. Ernest retired to Gimli where he provided sacramental ministry in Gimli, Camp Morton and Winnipeg Beach. Recently he moved to Winnipeg Beach. Funeral Prayers will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Winnipeg Beach on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Winnipeg Beach at 11:00 am. Most Reverend V. James Weisgerber presiding.
