Toronto Archbishop Thomas Collins doesn’t like being
called the archdiocese’s CEO. It has too much of a

simple evangelist.

Commentary
The statements, opinions, or views in the articles may not
necessarily reflect that of the Goan Voice Canada.
The
Lenten season offers us once again an opportunity to
reflect upon the very heart of Christian life:
charity. This is a favourable time to renew our
journey of faith, both as individuals and as a
community, with the help of the word of God and the
sacraments. This journey is one marked by prayer and
sharing, silence and fasting, in anticipation of the
joy of Easter.
This year I would like to propose a few thoughts in
the light of a brief biblical passage drawn from the
Letter to the Hebrews:“ Let us be concerned for each
other, to stir a response in love and good works”.
And so whether it was by plan, necessity or
desperation, Canadian companies are talking about
emerging markets like never before. From a risk
mitigation perspective, emerging markets are often
hedged from many of the larger economic issues
currently plaguing mature markets.

Based Goan writer Braz Menezes, author of the novel
“Just Matata:Sin, Saints
and Settlers”, addressed the Goa Book
Club at the Broadway Book Centre in Panjim, Goa,
India, on February 12, 2012. The lively narrative
moves quite smoothly from Goa to Kenya, trailing
faithfully the Goan in his search for livelihood and
greener pasture beyond the vast ocean.

Recollections of Mau Mau
The oral histories of British-Goans project presents
a five-minute clip recollecting the lived
experiences of Goans during the time of the Mau Mau
uprisings predominantly in Nairobi, Kenya. This
video is not a statement on the legitimacy or
otherwise of the uprisings but an recalling of
events as experienced by them. "A young Hindu man
would run through the fields to try and help that
man who was attacked..." says one witness.

Panaji: Five
political families from Goa have cornered nearly
one-third of Congress tickets for the March 3
assembly elections. And there's more to come.
Panaji: The fact
that the Congress has restricted its agenda for
development to the development of six Congress
families in Goa is the single reason why voters
should send the Congress home and re-elect the BJP
to power, opposition leader Manohar Parrikar said on
Thursday.
Panaji: In a
major relief to the Goa tourism industry, the
Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday gave
its green signal to the carnival parades in the
state with conditions which included a total ban on
the participation or patronization of the
government, political parties or election
candidates.
"M K Shaikh will be the party nominee for Fatorda
seat while Isidore Fernandes will be in the fray

Altinho Gomes said. Congress refused ticket to its
leader Vijay Sardesai for
Fatorda constituency after
Muslim community in the state pressed for their
representation in the ticket allotment.
