London (Reuters) - Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda broke away from two Kenyan rivals to win the men's marathon near Buckingham Palace on Sunday in front of vast crowds enjoying the climax to 16 days of Olympic competition and drama. After running side by side with world champion Abel Kirui and Wilson Kipsang, the 23-year-old put in a powerful kick to shake off the Kenyans six kilometres from the end of the 42km race. He crossed the finish line draped in the red, black and yellow Ugandan flag, which he knelt to kiss.

Olympic organizers got several things right, but made a few mistakes. Here’s what was good and where they erred

London: With just hours left to go in the 2012 London Olympic Games, one can safely say that this has been an utterly enjoyable edition. World records began toppling from the first day of events, the opening ceremony was more-or-less widely appreciated, the home team has done spectacularly, the city of London has coped courageously with the record crowds, and almost every high-profile discipline has delivered memorable moments.

2016 Obama's America
Dinesh D’Souza presents a complete biography of the 44th President of the United States

2016: Obama’s America opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 10.

Indian immigrant, Dinesh D’Souza, has already been denounced as a “Rightwing radical extremist lunatic.” The pitfall for his detractors will be in refuting what he presents in this biography as anything other than the truth. All of the information is well known to those who researched Barack Obama, but not known to the general public. He does not go into the politics that have been shaping the Democrat Party for the last century, but confines himself strictly to the man that is leading the nation.

Heavy rains in Virdi and Chorla Ghats of Sattari taluka on Tuesday morning forced authorities at the Anjunem Dam to open two gates and release water to maintain water level at the dam. According to Assistant Engineer M K Huddedgaddi, the two gates of the dam were opened and water was released at the rate of 10 cubic mm to maintain the normal water level. "However, after two hours the gates were closed, as rains stopped during low tide. The rainfall at Chorla Ghat and Virdi area on Tuesday itself was recorded as 103 mm," informed Huddedgaddi. Though both the gates were closed later, the water level from Walwanti River, Sanquelim and Bicholim Rivers rose substantially, crossing the danger level, due to which low-lying areas like Dattmandir, Gauthan, Kudne and other parts of Sanquelim, which are close to Walwanti River, were submerged.
