Canada India Foundation Calls For Revocation Of Values Charter
CIF Calls For Revocation Of Values Charter

Toronto: Canada India Foundation (CIF) has expressed its deep concern about the Quebec Government’s proposed “Values Charter”, and urged its immediate revocation. ”Canada has welcomed people from around the world, with a promise of inclusiveness, equal opportunity, and freedom of religion” said Dr. V.I. Lakshmanan, Chair of CIF, “The proposed Quebec Charter is against these Canadian values and will severely erode the protection of visible minorities in Quebec, setting the province back both socially and economically,” he said.

Are we in danger of turning the Pope into an idol?
September 22, 2013, 2:55 PM

"You shall have no other gods before me:" Could we be breaking that commandment?

United States: The creation of an idol, Gregory of Nyssa tells us, originates with the inception of an idea —one that we nurture and polish and rationalize until it takes possession of our judgment and guides our actions. Since Eden, and our earliest stories, this has been such a predictable characteristic of our fallen human nature that Madison Avenue, Hollywood, and all political machines depend upon our tendency to accept an idea, make a glittering, self-reflective golden calf of it, raise it aloft, love it and then endow it with power over our lives.

In Indian politics, not even cows are sacred
September 24, 2013 | By Christopher Joseph

Did the BJP offend their own Hindu constituents to spark a riot?

Kochi: There was a flare-up last week in Madhya Pradesh, and it was all about a cow. It may seem strange to outsiders, but cows are in fact a potent element in Indian politics, and have been for several centuries.

Windows XP Demise
16 September 2013.

On April 8, 2014, it's the "end of life" for Windows XP. Now, that doesn't mean XP will suddenly stop working. You can keep using it if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it.

End of life means Microsoft won't be releasing any more security updates to the average user. Any security flaws that hackers find won't be fixed. Your computer will be a sitting duck, even with security software installed.

Re: New Vatican leader raises celibacy question, Sept. 13

It is indeed highly refreshing to see that the very traditional Catholic Church hierarchy of yesteryear has given way to a progressive agenda for the future.

Subject: Re Case Dismissed - No Retrial for Lloyd Rayney

Dear Rod,

I just read the above article which was reported in your newspaper re the Acquital of Lawyer Lloyd Rayney in the murder of his wife Corryn. You are no doubt aware that many people in Canada have been following this very sad case of two highly successful young Aussie lawyers which, very unfortunately, ended up as an unsolved murder mystery!

Are you careful when you light candles in prayer? Who is most at risk when branches of a mango tree trespass into the neighbour's balcony? Were people less selfish when Padre Tio was young? Is it permissible to reveal the eighteenth ingredient in Tia Cassy's Christmas cake? Can the word 'donkey' be a term of endearment? Fatima M Noronha asks

Waves of heat, along with the Angelus peal, rolled over us, but no one stopped to pray. Namdev and Kistu wanted to finish the job by lunchtime. So did I. Sweat dripped off their chins. Their shorts covered with red dust, they shovelled out heap upon heap of loam. I coveted that mud, made of the goodness of human bodies. My chikku saplings longed for compost like that.
