Vatican City, Nov 29, 2013 / 09:41 am (CNA/EWTN News). - During his daily Mass, Pope Francis spoke of the importance of man's intellect in understanding the Lord, and cautioned those present against “restricted” thought which keeps us focused on ourselves. “What path does the Lord want? Always with the spirit of intelligence with which to understand the signs of the times. It is beautiful to ask the Lord for this grace,” the Pope said in his Nov. 29 daily homily.

Consultation asks Churches to critique unjust tourism structures (Matters India)
Sourced from: Goanet News news.goanet at gmail.com  | Sat Nov 30 16:54:06 PST 2013
Published: 3:00 pm, November 30, 2013 | Story By: Philip Mathew, | mattersindia.com reporter Kolkata consultation

The consultation stated that “All human beings are created in the image of God and are the subjects and not objects of creation. Any concept that pictures human beings as objects for enjoyment by commodifying them is a travesty of human values, and an insult to human beings. Modern tourism is centered on such an approach.”

Kolkata: Participants of an international consultation on “Theology of tourism” have urged churches and theological institutions around the world to analyze and critique unjust tourism structures and practices prevailing in the world.

As Goans, registering our birth in Portugal is our birthright
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/As-Goans-registering-our-birth-in-Portugal-is...
Joe D’Souza | Dec 2, 2013,

Bal Gangadhar Tilak said, "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it." In the same vein, the right to registe their births in Portugal given to Goans, cannot be taken away from them and they shall have it. I was therefore surprised to read that all those who registered their birth in Portugal by virtue of their being born in Portuguese Goa, prior to the Liberation of Goa on December 19, 1961, or born of Goan parents after Liberation, are now considered foreign nationals.

Despite the number of banquet halls with spacious dance floors, in the Greater Toronto Area, a reservation at Christmas time becomes a daunting task, even if the search starts early in the year. But, the Westend Seniors’ Club never comes up empty, and finds a venue as close to the big day as possible. This year their Xmas Dance was at the Pearl Banquet Hall in Mississauga, on November 24, 2013.

The Square One Shopping Center in Mississauga, one of the largest in Canada, has an Older Adult Center (OAC)which offers seniors a host of recreational and entertainment activities. The management of the center has encouraged the many ethno-cultural groups in the Mississauga Area to participate in activities and even form their own groups. The Goan Cultural Group is one of these and was formed in 2008 when a group of seniors, keen on playing truque, and needing a place to practice Goan dances, was able to get the programs room of the center on a weekly basis.

India leads world in suffering: Gallup poll

The significant deterioration in Indians' well-being is likely to be rooted in the country's disappointing economic performance.

Washington: Suffering, on average, has increased worldwide in the past several years, and nowhere more than in South Asia, largely due to negative developments in India, according to a new Gallup poll.

One in seven adults worldwide rated their lives poorly enough to be considered suffering in 2012, leading US opinion poll organization said Tuesday. South Asia led the world in suffering at 24 percent, followed by 21 percent in the Balkans and the Middle East and North Africa. Attributing the massive increase in suffering among South Asians "to negative developments in India" Gallup said, Average suffering in India more than doubled between 2006 to 2008 and 2010 to 2012. In 2012, a full quarter of Indians were suffering."
